Obituaries

This page of obituaries remembers individuals of the modern Bridgwater community who were either part of the Bridgwater Heritage Group, or well-known to the editors. With the decline of the local newspapers including more biographical details on departed individuals, this page hopes to redress the lack of commemoration of our townsfolk. Contributions are welcome for Bridgwater townsfolk, either individuals active in civic life, or those who shed an important light into the recent history of our town. This page is primarily as a historical record though, not as a place for announcements (for which, see the local press).

For historical biographies, see our Townsfolk section, as well as scientists and writers. A very large number of biographies of townsfolk can be found on the website of the Friends of the Wembdon Road Cemetery, which opened in 1851 and closed about a century later. An index of the biographies and obituaries can be seen here, although they are only available to members of the Friends.
