This early nineteenth century John Criddle longcase clock features a terrific patriotic depiction of Britannia, the British Lion and the Royal Navy. The lion is squatting on a captured flag. The gold fleur-de-lis motif looks pre-1789, but is probably meant instead to represent Napoleon Bonaparte. Picture kindly supplied by Bob Cullen.
