Bridgwater Alfred 1.13, 31 October 1831

Notes from the 31 October 1831 edition of the Bridgwater Alfred:

A meeting to be held at the George Inn in Bridgwater in November to discuss the plans and rates for improving the drainage of the Somerset Levels.

Grazing land at Cannington for sale – Eighteen Acres to Let currently occupied by Mr Cavill, the tenant.

Three properties in Bridgwater to be sold:

  1. A Dwelling house and garden in West Street of about a quarter of an acre, in the occupation of Abraham Payne.
  2. A Dwelling house of two rooms, a shop, two bedrooms and garden in North Street, of about a quarterof an acre, in the occupation of Henry Rogers.
  3. A Dwelling house of three parlours, three bedrooms and attics over a kitchen and cellars, with a convenient ‘outlet’, in Chandos Street, in the occupation of James Pyke. (This man is possibly a relation of Thomas Pyke the bellfounder)

Mostly editorials reflecting on the ongoing Bristol Riots. These riots would end on the day of this edition. A swipe is made at the Sherbourne Journal, part of an ongoing feud between the two newspapers.
