Below you will find the digitised text of Margaret Thompson Sturge’s memoir. There are two additional subsequent comments on the golden wedding photo, kindly supplied by Clare Spicer:-
- Number 3, the unknown young lady on Lewis senior’s left, I strongly suspect to be his second wife Elizabeth nee Deane. The version of this photo I have seen on Ancestry (but not got permission for) shows her more clearly (although she is not identified), and she has her hand tucked into Lewis’s arm.
- Lewis Francis junior does not seem to be in the photo. This photo was taken in 1886, a period when he was away at the Quaker boarding school in York.
