Source Collections

This index page lists collections of source materials relating to the town of Bridgwater. These collections include the Heritage Groups own, as well as those donated to us by members of the public, which we digitise and then pass on to the Blake Museum or Somerset Heritage Centre, depending on the medium. These digitised materials are intended to help you with research, but also so the town’s rich history may be more accessible for everyone.

Contributions are welcome, either simple ephemera to more weighty documents, from any period. We try and add as much historical analysis as possible, and welcome additions.

The Heritage Group Collection is updated from time to time. The Alfred, Russ and Osborne Collections are in progress. Directories are added to occasionally, as they are made available to us. The other collections listed are now complete. Note that the Gibson Collection is just an index, and the documents themselves can be found at the Somerset Heritage Centre in Norton Fitzwarren.
